Market Metrics
The West Virginia Farmers Market Association’s Market Metrics initiative helps us better understand the heartbeat of farmers’ markets across the state. By gathering meaningful data from individual markets, we gain valuable insight into the challenges, successes, and impact of West Virginia’s local food systems.
The information collected through Market Metrics not only helps individual markets identify opportunities for growth but also allows WVFMA to better support markets statewide through targeted resources, programs, and services. When common challenges emerge across multiple markets, the data can also help shape statewide policies, advocacy efforts, and future initiatives.
Market Metrics plays an important role in demonstrating the value of farmers’ markets to policymakers, grant funders, and partner organizations. The data helps tell the story of how farmers’ markets strengthen local economies, support farmers and small businesses, increase food access, and build healthier communities throughout West Virginia.
By participating, markets help ensure that the needs of West Virginia farmers’ markets remain visible, understood, and supported.
West Virginia Farmers Market Census
Policy Climate Survey
At the West Virginia Farmers Market Association (WVFMA), we’re committed to helping farmers markets, vendors, and local communities grow stronger together. One important way we support that mission is through advocacy and policy development that reflects the real needs of markets across the state.
Our Policy Climate Survey helps us better understand the challenges, opportunities, and priorities facing farmers markets and local food systems in West Virginia. The feedback we gather guides current initiatives and helps shape future policies, programs, and advocacy efforts that directly benefit markets, vendors, and the communities they serve.
We encourage market managers, vendors, farmers, and community partners to participate and share the survey throughout their networks.
If you have comments, questions, or suggestions, please contact us at coordinator@wvfarmers.org.
