“Supporting West Virginia Beekeepers Through Shared Resources & Partnership”
The West Virginia Farmers Market Association (WVFMA), in partnership with the West Virginia Beekeepers Association, is currently developing a new statewide Honey Extractor Rental Program designed to increase access to honey harvesting equipment for beekeepers across West Virginia.
This collaborative initiative will coordinate access to 15 honey extractors that will be available for short-term rental throughout the state. WVFMA will manage scheduling, logistics, and rental coordination on behalf of the West Virginia Beekeepers Association, helping make honey extraction equipment more affordable and accessible for local producers.
By lowering equipment barriers and expanding access to specialized tools, the program aims to support small farms, hobbyist beekeepers, and agricultural entrepreneurs while increasing local honey production and value-added agricultural opportunities statewide.

- Cottage food and honey sales regulations
- Proper food handling and labeling practices

Program Overview:
The Honey Extractor Rental Program is intended to provide beekeepers with access to essential extraction equipment during honey harvest season. The program is currently in the planning and development phase, with more details to be announced as equipment locations and scheduling systems are finalized.
Planned Equipment Availability
The rental inventory is expected to include:
- Stainless steel manual and motorized honey extractors
- Extraction equipment suitable for multiple frame capacities
- Food-grade honey handling supplies
- Honey straining and collection tools
- Additional extraction accessories as available
The goal is to create a practical, affordable equipment-sharing system that supports beekeepers of all experience levels.
Rental Requirements
To participate in the program, renters will be expected to provide:
- Access to electrical power
- Access to water for cleaning and sanitation
- Adequate workspace for equipment operation
- Thorough cleaning of all equipment before return
Because honey extraction equipment requires careful sanitation and maintenance, all units must be returned clean, dry, and in good condition. Additional rental agreements, deposits, or sanitation requirements may apply once the program is finalized.
Maximum Rental Length
Standard rental period: Up to 3 days
Additional scheduling flexibility may be available based on demand and equipment availability.
Pricing
Standard rental pricing is currently being developed and will be announced at a later date.
The program is intended to remain affordable and accessible while helping support long-term maintenance and expansion of the equipment inventory.
